Tick Rate Explained
Tick rate (measured in Hz) is how many times per second your server processes and updates the game state. A higher tick rate means smoother, more accurate gameplay - especially for a fast-paced game like this.
What tick rates are available?
- Free tier: up to 120 Hz
- Power Player / Support: up to 360 Hz
- Private nodes: up to 500 Hz
- Developer: unlimited
What tick rate should I use?
For casual play, 60-120 Hz is perfectly fine. For competitive matches where precision matters, 240-360 Hz will feel noticeably smoother. Higher tick rates use more CPU on the server node, so setting it higher than needed is wasteful.
Client tick rate
There is also a separate client tick rate setting, which controls how frequently the server sends updates to each connected client. Setting this too high relative to the server tick rate has no benefit.
How do I change the tick rate?
Edit the server from the dashboard and adjust the tick rate slider. The change takes effect when the server is next started.
