Can't Connect to a Server
If you or another player cannot connect to a server, work through these checks.
Is the server running?
Check the dashboard - the server must show a green online status. If it is stopped, click Start and wait for it to come online before trying to connect.
Is the server password protected?
If the server has a password, players need to enter it in-game to join. Check with the server owner for the correct password.
Are you whitelisted?
If the server has an active whitelist, only players on the list can join. Ask the server owner to add your Steam ID. See Admins, Whitelist, and Bans.
Is the server public?
Private servers do not appear in the in-game browser. The owner would need to share the direct connection details with you.
Are you banned?
If you were previously banned from a server, you will not be able to rejoin. Contact the server owner to have the ban removed.
Node issues
If none of the above apply, there may be a temporary issue with the server node. Check the Announcements section on the dashboard for any known problems.
